In the world of Catholic authors which is typically dominated by theologians and scholars, Ann Ball stood out as a unique character.  She had the unique distinction of being hardened, gun toting security guard manager by day–and prolific writer about the saints and Catholic tradition at night.  As a school teacher, she had a passion for bringing the real faces of saints to her students to let them see that these saints did not look much different than the rest of us.  That passion continued inter her later life as she wrote many books on modern saints which were strewn with pictures of the real saints as they were.  Her website at www.annball.com is filled with them as well, and it is somehow appropriate that her picture now rests with them as she herself goes to join them.  Her writings, will of course, stay with us.

I was lucky enough to take part in one of Ann Ball’s last interviews this past January, and she was, as always, full of lots of color.  I hope you enjoy listening to her as much as I have enjoyed talking with her and reading her books.

Nick Alexander is not just a talented Catholic musician.  He is so skilled in the art of parodies that he is often refered to as the Catholic Weird Al.  Nick and I talk about his start in the Catholic music industry, he love of the faith, and making good baby food for twins.  We also talk about his latest project, Top Catholic Songs, and how it is helping to get Catholic musicians more exposure in the world of iTunes.

Joe McClane, the Catholic Hack, has just produced an incredible audio reading of the letters of St. Ignatius of Antioch.  For all those who have always wanted to read the letters of Ignatius, but have never gotten around to it, this is finally you chance…no more excuses.  These letters may not be in the bible, but they give an incredible firsthand view into the workings of the early church.  It is often said that to be deep in history is to be Catholic, and these letters will show you why this saying is true. 

 And, the second best part about these recordings is that they are FREE.  Yes, Joe does ask for a donation to help get the letters published, however, you can access the recordings free.

Lorraine Murray was raised Catholic, but in college was swept away by the lies and promises of radical feminism and atheism.  In our interview, Lorraine talks about what took her away from the church and the blessings that eventually brought her back to the faith.  She shares about the lies of radical feminism and how these lies hurt her and hurt women throughout our culture.  She also talks about how to protect our children from these lies in an effort to revive the culture of authentic feminism.
