CS#21: Jeff Cavins And Dr. Tim Gray Talk About Adventures In Matthew And Exodus

In this interview, Jeff Cavins and Dr. Tim Gray Talk about Adventures in Matthew and Adventures in Exodus from the Great Adventure through the Bible series.  This episode was inspired by listener feedback asking for more info on the Adventures in Matthew.  The listener noted that next year’s readings are from cycle A, which focuses primarily on the Gospel of Matthew, and they wanted to have a good bible study to go along with the readings for the year.  Thank you for the feedback, and I apologize for loosing the message or I would have played it as part of the show.  Jeff and Tim talk about Matthew being the teaching gospel and the catechism for the early church.  They discuss how Matthew points to Jesus as the new Moses and the heir to the Davidic Kingdom.  After the break, we learn about how Jeff and Tim started working together, and speculate about if they have any good road stories.  Finally, Tim and Jeff talk about Adventures in Exodus and why they chose to explore Exodus next in the series.

Jeff Cavins has been a protestant pastor, Catholic apologist, author, radio host, and TV host.  He is currently working on the Great Adventure though the Bible series, which is probably the most popular catholic scripture study available today.  Find Jeff’s blog at www.jeffcavins.com.

Dr. Tim Gray is Professor of Sacred Scripture at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary and at the Augustine Institute, a dynamic new MA program in Scripture and Evangelization in Denver. He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from Catholic University of America. Dr. Gray’s dissertation The Temple in the Gospel of Mark: A Study in its Narrative Role is forthcoming from Mohr Siebeck. He is author of The Luminous Mysteries, Sacraments in Scripture and Mission of the Messiah. Dr. Gray is a partner with Jeff Cavins in The Great Adventure Bible Timeline series, the fastest growing Catholic Bible study program. A nationally renowned speaker, Dr. Gray has filmed numerous series for EWTN.

How You Can Help

For many years, we have sat back and watched whatever the major networks have shown us or listened to whatever our local radio stations have played us.  One of the most amazing things about blogs and podcasts is that those days are now over.  Anyone with something to say (good or bad) can be heard by the world.  Of course, this also presents a challenge in that everyone with a message is now competeing for a chance to share their message with the world.  With so much programming available, how is anyone supposed to find the good programs.  The only way we can get the message out about our great online programming is with your help!

Why should you help us?
A larger audience means that we can post episodes more often, have more giveaways and other incentives, and offer a wider variety of shows.  It also means that more people can learn about the wonderful Catholic books that are available to spread the Good News.

What you can do:

Remember that subscribing to our feeds, reviewing our show, and voting for our show at the various podcast sites helps to raise our show in the rankings at these sites and improving our exposure to casual browsers.
